Boris Johnson – What’s Next?

Boris Johnson and the rest of the UK parliament are waiting for the results of senior civil servant Sue Grey’s report. Sue Grey was tasked to inquire about the “party-gate” rumors. She is expected to publish her report this week.

The inquiry was launched when an email was leaked regarding parties held at No. 10 Downing street during the first lockdown in 2020. The email suggests that a staff of about 100 people including the Prime Minister was invited to a party. The party included drinks and has violated the rules of the lockdown implemented by the government.

Initially, Boris Johnson denied these claims. However, there was a photo published showing him and his ex-fiance being a part of it. The PM took the stand and apologized to his constituents. Then another information came to light that they had a party on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral. This prompted the PM to apologize to the Queen as the backlash continues. It is noted that during the funeral, the Queen is photographed sitting alone to abide by the restrictions.

Recently, former aide Dominic Cummings claimed that the PM was warned regarding the parties. He claims that an email was sent explicitly saying to Boris Johnson that he violates restrictions. While this was ongoing, another issue was raised regarding the conservative party. It is claimed that the party is blackmailing and bullying other members. Their move was made to protect the PM.

More and more MPs have expressed that they have no confidence in Mr. Johnson’s government. This week could be the final blow to the PM. Many voters also express their thoughts online wanting the PM to quit. Everyone is on their toes waiting for the inquiry’s results.
