INDIA COVID Cases Update as of February 12, 2022

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India has reported a decrease in COVID cases since yesterday. As of February 12, 2022 (8:00 IST), there has been a total of 50,137 new cases reported across India.

Kerala has reported 16,012 cases followed by Maharashtra registering 5,455 cases, and Karnataka stands at 3,976 cases at this time. Today’s number is lower than yesterday’s and below the 200,000 mark that was previously reported.

This is the sixth day that the cases have fallen below 100,000. Despite the decrease in cases, public precaution is still advised. Social Distancing, vaccination, and wearing masks is still recommended.

On Thursday, the Gujarat government announced an easing of restrictions. This is including a reduction in night curfew hours in eight cities from February 11 to 18. Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Gandhinagar will have a curfew from midnight to 5 a.m., rather than 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated her administration may consider reopening 50 percent-capacity primary schools for pupils in grades 1 to 5 provided “Covid does not cause additional complications.”
