Thailand COVID-19 Cases March 13, 2022 Update

Thailand Ministry of Health reports 23,584 new COVID-19 cases and an additional 66 deaths since yesterday. The ministry also announced an additional 23,517 recovered patients.

In a recent survey conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration, the majority are worried about the Omicron variant. Most are concerned about its ability to spread quickly and put the elderly and those with underlying issues at risk.

The poll consisted of 1,320 participants surveyed through phone calls on the current COVID situation. It was conducted on March 7-9 and compiles the participant’s opinion on the surge of cases.

Survey Results

56.36% said yes, 34.54% said that they are moderately worried and 21.7% are highly concerned. Most are saying that the Omicron variant puts the elderly and those with underlying issues at risk.

22.20% are not worried at all considering they are fully vaccinated and do not live in high-risk areas. 21.44% also said they are not quite worried since they do not have to travel to risky areas and are fully vaccinated.

They also have varied opinions on why the virus has been spreading in the country. 52.95% said people are not careful enough and omicron is not severe. 46.29% also sighted that the omicron variant is highly contagious. 15.76% say that the pandemic is worldwide and inevitable. 13.41% blame the management of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. 11.41% said that the surge is due to the high number of people being tested with COVID. 9.70% raised the issue that the spread is due to illegal migrants. 9.62% said that it was because of people not getting any vaccinations or partial vaccination.

They were also asked how often do they test themselves through RT-PCR or ATK testing. 41.14% said they do it once in a while 16. 82% say they do it once a week. 23.79% say they do not do it at all while 5.83% do it every three days. Only 1.44% test daily and 0.98% test every other day.
