Russia Increases the Attack

Russia Increases Attack Using the Kinzhal Missile

Russia increases the attack with the first known use of a hypersonic “Kinzhal” missile, a powerful and destructive weapon. It was launched and hit a military ammunitions warehouse in western Ukraine.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced its launch on Friday. “On March 18, the Kinzhal aviation missile system with hypersonic aeroballistic missiles destroyed a large underground warehouse of missiles and aviation ammunition of Ukrainian troops in the village of Delyatin, Ivano-Frankivsk region.”

The missile was first introduced in 2018 when President Vladimir Putin announced its development. He claimed that it was a missile that carries a nuclear warhead and delivers it at hypersonic speed.

The ministry also claimed that this missile is highly maneuverable and travels at the speed of light. It could be compared to the capabilities of MiG-31 fighter jets.

This is a major escalation and the possible beginning of the use of nuclear warheads.

The Effects of War

Since the invasion has begun, at least 847 civilians including 64 children. This number is based on the United Nations database, they do believe that the actual toll is higher.

According to UNICEF, about 1.5 million children have been evacuated from Ukraine. They added that “countless others” are displaced inside the country.

Mariupol

President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack on the city is an “act of terror” that will be “remembered for centuries.”

According to reports, the residents of Mariupol are taken to Russian territory against their will. Captured residents were taken to camps where Russian forces checked their phones and documents, the city council said.

The city is continuously bombarded by the Russian troops. The residents begin to ration food and water to survive.

Missile Strike

In the southern city of Mykolaiv, military barracks have been hit with missiles. Regional official Vitalli Kim estimates that dozens of soldiers have been killed.
