New Year is around the corner and people have started planning for the New Year. Some will hit the rocking places on their own, while some will head to outstation locations for fun and amusement. There are also some people who doesn’t like to be the part of a loud gathering but do want to experience something delightful and pleasing peacefully with their partner or family on the New Year’s Eve. If you are wondering for an inspiration this New Year to head off to a different and offbeat locale, then Chopta in Uttarakhand could be the right experience for you, as I had experienced last New Year’s Eve.
Why Bookmark Chopta for Your New Year Vacation?
This small village in Uttarakhand state in India gives you astounding experience of what Himalayan surrounding has to offer you. This town is a part of beautiful Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary and gives you a great glimpse and experience of wandering through evergreen forests and meadows.
A Pleasing Place – A Trip That I Will Remember Forever
As I had always loved to move around hilly areas, Chopta instantly caught my attention when I checked the pictures and that was the time, I decided that was going to be my location for bringing in New Year peacefully with my partner.
We booked our stay from 29th Dec to 1st Jan, picking a hotel that was right across a scenic view of the hills and valley complete with lush green fields and meadows. We took our cab on 29th December early morning from Delhi and reached in evening. The trip took about 10 hours, with frequent rest-overs in between.
The hotel, as we had searched thoroughly was very nice and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The hotel was almost packed, and that time I know that we had really chosen a good place for our vacation. Our entire stay throughout the time at the hotel was extremely good, the staff was very polite, friendly and ready for any assistance all the time. Right from the hotel and room condition to amenities and food, everything was 5 on 5.
Next morning, we covered ourselves in full woollen and set out for our trek. We went on Tungnath trek on the first day (3.5 km) and Deo-Ri Tai Trek on the next day (2.3 km). It was the first time that I took such a trek and it was an altogether spectacular experience. We also visited Tungnath temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, and this was a mesmerising experience. We did get exhausted, but the cool and chilly fresh air, and pleasing surrounding around us took away all our stress.
Apart from trekking, we also wander around in the nearby forest areas, guided by our guide, and visited nearby fields and villages. This was an experience where we came close to the traditional life, which is something that is way more relaxing and happy-go-lucky, unlike what we experience in our fast-paced urban life. A visit to the local market was a memorable experience. Indulging in local cuisine was mouth-watering, and taught us so much about the food culture. We bought so many souvenirs from there including local handcrafted clothing and wooden items.
New Year’s Eve was spent in our hotel rooms, with a special food menu arranged by the hotel staff. And with a small request from our site, the staff arranged for a candle-lit dinner for us, overlooking the tranquil surrounding outside as the clock ticket to midnight. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be etched in my memories forever. Such peaceful and calmness, no wonder this was the ideal vacation, that I would like to go on again and again.
