Moderna Jabs Donated by the US Arrive in Thailand

In Thailand, vaccination is going on in full swing to control the corona. The United States has offered 100,000 Moderna Covid-19 vaccine doses to support Thailand in immunization. Also, the US has provided ten million dollars in aid related to Covid-19 to Thailand.

This is the second batch of mRNA vaccines after 1.5 million Pfizer doses were administered in July, said Michael Heath, the US embassy’s charge d’affaires.

The first tranche of vaccines helped Thailand contain the outbreak of Covid-19. This second batch of vaccine will help in vaccinating 70% of Thailand’s population of Thailand. Due to this, more and more people can be saved from Corona.

The most recent batch of mRNA vaccines will be distributed in areas where the outbreak remains severe and will also be used as a booster vaccine, said Sophon Imsirithavorn, Deputy Director General of the Department of Disease Control.

In Thailand, 65% of the population has been fully vaccinated so far, while the government aims to achieve 70% by the end of this year.

MFAThai thanked the US Government for the generosity in contributing 1 million doses of Moderna vaccines to Thailand, reflecting their long-standing friendship.
