India COVID Update – Government tracking 13 passengers who escaped quarantine

India COVID Update – At least 13 passengers on an Italy-India flight chartered from Milan have escaped the airport in Amritsar. It’s unclear how they managed to escape the health officials.

The health officials discovered 125 infected passengers on the flight that landed Wednesday afternoon. The 13 escapees were part of those who tested positive. Nine of them were believed to have escaped at the airport and 4 escaped from the hospital.

The police are on high alert as they continue to search for the passengers. They have announced a warning that legal consequences will be pursued should they fail to surrender themselves. They have also have begun proceedings to cancel their passports to prevent crossing borders undetected. The police will be releasing photos of the passengers who refuse to report back.

This is not the first instance where a passenger tries to avoid imposed quarantines. Many across the globe have been reported to escape facilities. Although quarantines could be boring or time-consuming, they are in place to keep the public safe. It has come as no surprise as law enforcement seeks to penalize passengers escaping quarantines. Although COVID has indeed changed the way we travel, we must keep doing our part to keep ourselves, our family, and our countrymen safe.
