The Kanwar Yatra (annual pilgrimage of Shiva devotees) will start on July 25, 2021. The pilgrimage is taking place at a time when there is a risk of the deadly coronavirus. In such a situation, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued instructions to the officials to conduct the pilgrimage smoothly, keeping the Covid-19 risks in mind.
CM Yogi directed that the Kanwar Yatra should be completed by establishing a dialogue with the neighboring states. For Jalabhishek in Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, devotees must follow the Covid-19 protocols.
According to Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad, 93 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours. 218 people were discharged during this period. The total number of active cases of coronavirus is 2,032, and so far, a total of 16,82,130 people have recovered. The recovery rate is 98.4%.
On the other hand, under the chairmanship of Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar, a meeting was held in Dehradun with the police officers of 8 states regarding the Kanwar Yatra today.
DGP Ashok Kumar said, “Like 2020, the Uttarakhand government has banned the Kanwar Yatra due to Covid-19 concerns.”
Uttarakhand DGP appealed to everyone to cooperate and conduct Jalabhishek in the local temples. Due to the ban, we will have to take action on people going to Haridwar, and such people will also be quarantined for 14 days.
