Omicron Variant: India Issued New Travel Guidelines

In view of the threat of Omicron variant of the Corona virus the Union Health Ministry in India has issued new guidelines for travelers coming to India from abroad. In these new guidelines, it has been said that travelers coming to India will have to give information about the travel history of the last 14 days. Apart from this, the passengers will upload their negative RT PCR report on the Air Suvidha Portal even before the journey.

The central government has also released a list of 12 countries that have been placed in the category of high risk countries, from where additional measures have been taken for travelers coming to India. These include all countries of the European Union including the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel. Those coming to India from these countries will also have to undergo a Corona test at the airport and also wait for the report at the airport itself.

If the Corona test of these passengers comes negative, then they will have to stay in home quarantine for the next seven days. Apart from this, Corona test will have to be done again on the eighth day, then if the negative report comes, then self-monitoring will have to be done for the next seven days.

Passengers coming to India from countries outside the category of high risk countries will be allowed to leave the airport. They will have to do self-monitoring for the next 14 days. It has been said in the guidelines that random Corona test will be done on arrival of 5 percent of the total passengers present in any flight in India.

All the countries are upset after the Omicron variant of Corona came to the fore. This variant has been described by the World Health Organization as a variant of concern, that is, there is a need to be cautious with it. The Government of India has taken this step in view of the danger of this variant.
