Indian arrested for Disrespecting the Hindu Religion and the Royal Thai Police. Harinder (Honey) Singh, 38, posted a photo of him stepping on the image of Maa Durga, also referred to as “Mae Uma” a Hindu Goddess. He also posted hurtful sentiments against the Royal Thai Police.

His posts have angered many Hindus in Thailand and some of them living in Pattaya, Thailand, reported him to the police. They filed a complaint at the Royal Thai Police station.

On March 3, 2022, in room number 820 on the 8th floor of Laguna Beach Resort 3 at Jomtien, Pattaya, he was arrested in the early hours of the morning. At the police station, it was discovered that the ahs overstayed his visa for a year.

Fellow Indians and religious devotees came down to the police station asking him to apologize for disrespecting Maa Durga. They also came to talk to him to tell him the importance of respecting other religions.

Indo-Thai spoke with some of the devotees who expressed their anger. His actions were not to be tolerated at any cost. Everyone should respect all communities and all religions.

Mr. Harinder Singh will remain on remand for 15-30 days before he will be deported to India.
