Due to the continuous snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, there is a tremendous cold waves. White sheets of snow have been spread in the valley which has a big impact on Jammu too.
Due to snowfall near Banihal Tunnel, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway had to be stopped. The work of removing snow on the highway by cutting it through machines was started but due to continuous snow, it could not be completely removed.
The effect of this was that a long queue of trucks and trains were built on the highway. People sitting in hundreds of stranded vehicles including truck drivers faced a lot of problems. The traffic department says that as the weather improves, the work of removing snow and mountain debris on the highway will be done faster. In the meanwhile, the police and administration have also appealed people not to come on the Jammu-Srinagar highway due to bad weather.
