Heavy Rain Expected in Many States Today

In many states of the country, the situation is miserable due to continuous heavy rains. Due to the torrential rains, there are flood-like conditions in many places. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many states on Wednesday as well. Light to moderate rain at isolated places over Northwest Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, parts of West Bengal, parts of Bihar, isolated parts of Sikkim, parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand Might be possible.

Light to moderate rain at one or two places over parts of Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, parts of Vidarbha, parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Northeast India can. Moderate rain with one or two places may occur over parts of Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana and Odisha. Scattered light rain is possible over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep.

15 people killed in Bengal floods, 3 lakh people affected
The flood situation in six districts of West Bengal became dire on Tuesday. The floods have killed 15 people in the state and left lakhs homeless or displaced. About three lakh people have been displaced due to the rain and release of water from the DVC dam for the last few days. At the same time, large parts of East Vardhman, Paschim Vardhman, Paschim Medinipur, Hooghly, Howrah and South 24 Parganas have been submerged.

In Madhya Pradesh, the rain of the last one week has caused havoc in many areas. Rivers, streams are in spate, settlements have been submerged and villages are inundated with water. The help of the army is being taken in relief and rescue work. People trapped in the water are being evacuated safely by helicopter. So far, more than 1600 people trapped in the floods in the state have been shifted to safer places. About 1171 villages in Shivpuri, Sheopur, Datia, Gwalior, Bhind and Rewa have been affected by the floods. A total of 200 villages are surrounded.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers occurred at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and at few places in West UP. The maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 35.0 degrees Celsius at Basti observatory, while the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Jhansi observatory at 23.5 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain and thundershowers at some places of the state on August 4.
