America Imposes Travel Ban on Eight African Countries

The new variant of Corona virus infection found in South Africa remains a matter of concern for the whole world. Many countries have imposed travel restrictions on South Africa, including America. The US has banned the travel of non-US citizens from South Africa and seven other African countries due to the new variant of Covid-19.

The US will ban travel from South Africa and seven other countries in the region from Monday. The restrictions will not apply to US citizens or permanent residents returning from these countries, who will be required to show a negative test report before their travel.

Due to the new variant of Corona many countries have so far banned South Africa. Such countries include Italy, Austria, France, Japan, United Kingdom, Singapore, Netherlands, Malta, Malaysia, Morocco, Philippines, Dubai, Jordan, USA, Canada and Turkey.

Canada announced on Friday that it has banned the entry of foreign travelers who have traveled to the southern part of Africa in the past 14 days. Apart from this, all Canadian citizens who have traveled to the southern part of Africa in the last 14 days will be mandatory to be screened and will have to live in isolation.

Member countries of the European Union (EU) also agreed on Friday to ban travel from South African countries to prevent the spread of a new type of corona virus.

The EU executive said that utmost care needed to be taken in dealing with the new type of virus because it is not yet clear how dangerous it is. The Speaker also asked all the member countries to check the incoming passengers and keep them in separate habitats.
