Chandrashila

Chandrashila, popularly known as “Moon Rock”, is the summit beyond Tungnath temple. It rests at an altitude of 4000 meters above sea level; this place offers 360-degree view that includes the Himalayan peaks, Kedarnath, Nandadevi and Trishul peaks.

Legend has it that lord Rama came to this place after defeating Ravan to meditate. A temple dedicated to the river goddess Ganga is also located here.

Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary

The Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary, located just 7 km from Chopta, is home to the rare and indigenous species of mesmerising musk deer.

The area coverage of the Sanctuary is about 5 square kilometres and was built to protect the endangered musk deer, among other vital species. The Sanctuary remains lush green throughout the year and is a perfect spot for animals, birds and nature lovers
